Well yesterday was a mixed bag. I spent all day at work chasing down leaky roofs. When I got home I settled in with some soup and grilled cheese. I even got some words in. The soup didn't sit well in my stomach so I have no voice today. Back at it later

- weil alles bisher über Männer ist und von Männern verfasst (auch "Katarina", Autor von Shangri-La Frontier, ist ein Mann), fand ich noch eine Reihe von einer Autorin über eine Frau, mein Favorit: "Dahlia lässt den Kopf nicht hängen" zeigt eine Handwerkerin in einer mittelalterlichen, gemütlichen Fantasy-Stadt. sie kann sich an ihr voriges Leben erinnern (sie war im modernen Japan und starb an Überarbeitung) und "erfindet" magische Alltagsgegenstände, z.B. einen Föhn oder Kochplatten für Fondue. - es braucht vier Bände (!), bis überhaupt klar ist: Magie hat man hier in Levels von 0 (keine Magie) bis 15, Dahlia ist Level 8 und kann hoch-leveln. Es gibt in der Erzählwelt zwar alles, was wir aus Games wie "Zelda" kennen (Monster, magische Schwerter, Verschwörungen etc.) und Dahlia ist kreativ und ehrgeizig, doch es geht vor allem um Work-Life-Balance und das zwischenmenschliche Fingerspitzengefühl: wie spricht man mit Investor*innen, mit Adligen, wer hilft beim Vertrieb der Produkte etc.  - meine These im Gespräch/der wichtigste Punkt: "Gamification" gibts ja möglichst überall. wir sammeln Bonusmeilen, wir zählen Schritte, es gibt Film- und Bücherlese-"Challenges", alles soll quantifizierbar sein, damit Fortschritt messbar wird (und Leute überwachbar). Dahlia sagt: "Hard to stay sane without some kind of reward in sight." die Bücher sind flüssig zu lesen, weil es IMMER "voran geht" und Figuren dauernd wirkmächtiger werden. zugleich aber ist das SO kapitalistisch (Wachstum als DER Story-Driver), dass ich mich freue, wenn Dahlia z.B. Fondue isst seitenlang und das Buch klar macht "DIESES Essen mit Freund*innen ist so viel wichtiger als, ob sie Level 9 erreicht."
