1/4 Trump, LTSE and the Fight to Slow Capitalism’s 90-Day Clock
For nearly a century, quarterly earnings have set the rhythm of American capitalism. Every three months, CEOs perform, analysts judge, and markets react.

Just been to an AMAZING session presenting research on introverted educators. I feel so seen! What was also interesting was the number of those of us in the room who felt the importance of the work for our experience. I’m now a member of yet another impromptu community of practice as a result. #ltse
More magic out of sessions on learning and teaching scholarship. These are prompting me to reflect on how much I appreciate the support and encouragement that Birmingham Business School gives its education contract academics to help us properly engage with scholarship work. #ltse #ilovemyjob
Today’s magic includes being part of a new Business School personal tutoring development and evaluation community of practice by simply being in the room when it started. #ltse
Another good day at the #cabs #ltse so far. I always worry about going to conferences as the ‘day job’ doesn’t stop and it feels as if I’m taking myself too far away from my urgent to-do list. And then the magic happens and I remember how vitally important conferences and networking are.
Maria Hussain receiving her CABS Fellowship award on stage at the LTSE conference.
A second CABS Fellowship awards to Maria Hussain. Another much deserved award. #ltse
Sally Everett receiving her CABS Fellowship from colleagues on stage with her name on a slide high up behind.
Yey! @sallyeverett.bsky.social receiving her (surprise to her!) CABS Fellow award. #ltse
Fascinating panel discussion on supporting the process and attachment of neurodivergent students. Learning lots again and making notes on reflections I need to do #ltse
First conference I’ve been to where a bat is flying around the auditorium. Poor thing. It must be very distressed. Wonder how it got in? Wish I could help it find a way out to the peaceful space it needs. #ltse
A book titled Entrepreneurial Thinking: Mindset in action on a display stand sitting on blue cloth. The book is primarily white with a cloud-like outline containing multi-coloured Tetris blocks.
Picked myself up a book to check out at the @sagepub.com stand at #cabs #ltse conference. Thanks to everyone on the stand who made lots of really useful suggestions - and are letting the book come home with me tomorrow!
21 people standing for a group photo dressed in informal clothing appropriate for when the photo was taken in 1993.
Going to a reunion this weekend. 32 years ago, I studied with an amazing group of people who really made me think. It was MSc Cognitive Science - part psychology, part linguistics, part philosophy, part computing (Prolog!). AI in other words. Difference in scale but similar conversations. #ltse
Osasu Atomon, a student from the University of Brighton speaking on AI and what students want at the 2025 CABS Learning, teaching and the student experience conference in Nottingham. Vice Chancellor Professor Donna Whitehead and graduate and Head of Innovation at Nova Law, Alan Larkin, sitting on stage nearby.
Great to see the student voice here. #ltse
Good to see Universities’ very high growth ambitions as a route out of financial difficulties challenged at #ltse. Financial sustainability is going to be a big theme this year.
CABS report on this years Graduate Outcomes release mentioned at #ltse highlighting that Business and Management graduates have the highest rates of business start-up. There’s no mention of self-employment or freelancing though which are measured separately. 1/2 charteredabs.org/policy/resea...
