Some #placenames are easily verified – #Beaconsfield is so called for the Saxon ‘beechen field’ (hard ‘ch’) meaning ‘the clearing in the beeches’.
Many other place names are a little less grounded in fact.

Chalk streams are among the planets rarest habitats, and 9 are found in the #Chilterns. In urgent need of protection, they support #endangeredspecies such as the water vole, reed bunting and brown trout. @NAAONB @AONBFamily
