Possibly Aulagromyza hendeliana on Honeysuckle in SE Hants #leafmines
I've been checking holm oaks in East Yorkshire (VC 61) for #leafmines since 2013, but had only recorded Ectoedemia heringella near the Humber Estuary. I found a few near Beverley last year though and loads in Hull today. I last checked this tree in 2022. #TeamMoth @doublekidney.bsky.social
Went. To collect some willow sticks to make a willow we've star. Got a bit distracted, came back with a couple of Phyllocnistis mines 😊 Have to wait and see what comes back from the review of these on willows. One of possibly 4. So I'll keep an eye on the tree for future ID 😊 #teammoth #leafmines
Two for the price of one on a Lombardy Poplar leaf blown down by Storm Amy: the ‘snail trail’ of Phyllocnistis unipunctella with in the centre, the mine of Gypsonoma oppressana/dealbana. #leafmines #teammoth

We braved Storm Amy this morning to delve into the world of Leaf Mines! Local expert Martin showed a keen small group how to spot & identify #leafmines 🔍 #events #workshop

Leaf mines! Volunteer Scott found 37 leaf mines on Tuesday work party in between the raking. Found on Oak, Hazel, Elm, Dog Rose, Hawthorn, Blackthorn & Apple. Looking forward to seeing how many were found today! #leafmines
Event Alert! This Saturday we are running a Leaf Mine Workshop event at Bubbenhall Wood! The excellent Martin Kennard will be leading this session which is perfect for beginners 🍃🐛🔍 #leafmines Details here: butterfly-conservation.org/events/leaf-...
Plenty of #leafmines on a black poplar at work today, with the three main species that occur in Yorkshire (Phyllocnistis unipunctella, Stigmella trimaculella, Gypsonoma oppressana) very easy to find, including all three on one leaf (last photo). #TeamMoth #YorkshireMoths @doublekidney.bsky.social
One of the benefits of occasionally walking home is the opportunity to record #leafmines in places I wouldn't normally visit: two Stigmella speciosa mines on sycamore (not often I find them tenanted) and S. aceris on Norway Maple. #teammoth #MothsMatter @doublekidney.bsky.social
Saw these extensive mines on poplar leaves on northern France last month, with larvae present. Never seen almost entire leaves mined like it! Maybe Phyllocnistis unipunctella? #France #LeafMines #Lepidoptera
A few leafmines from today's walk: an Etainia louisella mine in a Field maple samara; several vacated mines on Oak made by the larvae of the weevil Orchestes signifer; &, also on Oak, lots of cones, which, at this time of year, were likely made by larvae of the moth Caloptilia robustella. #leafmines
Pondering if today's find at @lincswildlife.bsky.social Epworth Turbary on just a single Honeysuckle leaf is that of Aulagromyza cornigera🤔 No others despite extensive searching🙄🤨 #IsleOfAxholme #Leafmines @sjthomasbotany.bsky.social @vc30moths.bsky.social

Quite a few mines in the Holm Oak (Quercus ilex) leaves, which I think might be Phyllonorycter messaniella? Shropshire #LeafMines #Lepidoptera
Leafmine on Bramble this morning. Long gallery leading to a blotch. Can't figure it out, but wondering of its an agromyza? Can any help me out please? @agrorecscheme.bsky.social @vc30moths.bsky.social @vc30moths.bsky.social

Leafmining on this mornings dog walk. Think I've found Phyllonorycter oxyacanthae on Hawthorn. #leafmines #teammoth
Leafmine of Phyllonorycter maestingella on a sheltered Beech sapling in Footherly today. Don’t seem to be any previous records for this gridsquare (SK00) in VC39. #leafmines
Coptotriche Marginea and Stigmella Plagicolella leaf mines recently at Gibraltar Point, no idea on county status or site status. Wonder if I can sneak any more onto the year list…

I kept my eye peeled for leafmines during today's walk. From the many seen, I thought I'd share these four as they're all fly mines: Cerodontha iridis on Stinking iris; Chromatomyia ramosa on Teasel; Euleia heraclei on Alexanders; & Phytomyza aquilegiae on Aquilegia. #leafmines
