Why is @manmetuni.bsky.social top of the league? It hosted #HyNet at a careers event this year. HyNet will produce dirty #BlueHydrogen, dump millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide under #LiverpoolBay and is backed by #EETFuels, #Cadent and #Eni.
What's going on @peopleandplanet.bsky.social?
We've lodged an appeal against the refusal of our application to seek a judicial review of the government decision to allow captured carbon dioxide to be stored in #LiverpoolBay as part of the #HyNet scheme.
We've raised £70k from generous benefactors to take the government to court over its decision to approve the #HyNet #CCS scheme in #LiverpoolBay. We're aiming to raise another £30k to cover unexpected legal costs.
Please donate if you can. Thank you 🙏
We're taking the #DepartmentForEnergySecurityAndNetZero and the #NorthSeaTransitionAuthority to court. We believe their decision to allow the #HyNet #CCS scheme in #LiverpoolBay failed to:
• Assess major accidents risk
• Comply with marine conservation regulations
• Assess climate change impact

We've applied for a judicial review of the government decision to allow fossil fuel giant #Eni to store carbon dioxide in #LiverpoolBay using #CarbonCaptureAndStorage as part of the #HyNet scheme. We're working with @leigh-day.bsky.social on the legal proceedings.

7m ebbing tide – Liverpool Bay /
Liverpool Bay just after a neap high tide of 7.55m. The sandbanks are submerged, as is most of the concrete groyne.

New Brighton Groynes /
At one point in Liverpool Bay, there is a 3-way groyne. One arm reaches back to the promenade, one runs parallel to the prom and the other reaches out into the bay. Fascinating structures.

3.6m ebbing tide – Liverpool Bay /
At 8am the tide is at 3.6m high and going out. The sandbanks are completely underwater now. A little boat skims across the top of them heading out to sea. Small boats can safely sail through this area, but the […]

2.5m ebbing tide – Liverpool Bay /
Around 8am today the tide was ebbing at 2.5 meters. A huge difference to earlier in the week when it was at 0.9m and the sandbanks were exposed. I could have skipped to the Isle of Man. The white dot on the horizon is […]

The government has approved the #HyNet #CarbonCaptureAndStorage scheme in #LiverpoolBay and handed fossil fuel giant #Eni £2billion of public money to build it. #CCS is an expensive, risky, inefficient and unproven technofix fuelled by hot air and hype.

Sunset over Hilbre Island from West Kirby beach as the tide comes in as the wind increases with Storm Jocelyn
I keep expecting the camera to get ripped of the wall the amount it is blowing about, and it's going to get worse. 😬
