#SeenReportedSorted
A long abandoned #LoneCone and a couple of black bags that had been lingering for a few weeks on Cowdray Avenue, were swiftly removed after we reported them online to the City Centre Neighbourhood Team @yourcolchester.
Thanks guys...
'Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage...'
This forsaken-looking #LoneCone lies imprisoned and abandoned in the churchyard of the former All Saints Church, now the Natural History museum.
We've reported it to the city council and are hopeful of early release...
This time last year we were well into our #LoneCone #ChristmasCone campaign highlighting the number of abandoned, left behind traffic cones.
Unfortunately, a great many cones in #Colchester are still sitting lonely, unloved and ignored this #Christmas.
Spare them a thought...
"I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath...
A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death"
#LoneCone
"In the world’s broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!"
#LoneCone
"Like a jester I joke
About my caustic yoke
I make light out of the matter
And every one replies with laughter..."
#LoneCone
"Yet beautiful and bright he stood,
As born to rule the storm;
A creature of heroic blood,
A proud, though childlike form."
#LoneCone
"It's been empty for as far back as I've been allowed to remember.
So I just stand there, wondering what's the matter, what is matter, do I matter?"
#LoneCone
"Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone, Silence the pianos and with muffled drum Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come. Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead."
#LoneCone
'This Christmas Eve, I'm sad and grieve; let's meet somehow. While fate I had can wait, let me, my maker, see. I now impart my heart- this... Seek and ye shall find a song for you.'

'What can I give Him
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would give a lamb
If I were a wise man, I would do my part
Yet what I can, I give Him
Give my heart...'

"Father does not see my mournful sad tears, that fall on his mossy stone ... oh, my broken heart bleeds."

'I'd give anything to see
A little Christmas tree
And to hear, hear the laughter
Of children playing in the snow...'

'Will this ever be over?
'Excuse me, is there someone there?'
'Has there ever been anyone other than me here for that matter?'
Hello??

Oops, we forgot to add our 'cone' hashtags.
Here they are now
If you'd like to learn more about the woes of #Colchester's #LoneCone (s) then do a quick #LoneCone search on X/Twitter, Facebook, or Google.
These desperately lonely cones would be terribly, chuffed to know that you care...
