Adder, eyes slight bluer , the next day #LytchettBay

A Spotted Redshank stands on one leg in a mudflat. It has lost some of it’s silvery winter plumage and is getting darker breeding plumage
The less ‘summer-y’ of the two Spotted Redshank at Lytchett Bay (digiscoped from LBV). The other one is much darker

A Ruff, stood in shallow water with it's back to us appears to be being talked at by a larger bird, a Black-tailed Godwit. A Redshank stands nearby
A Ruff takes flight as the water it was stood in became too deep due to the tide coming in. We can see all of the wing & rump feather patterns. It's legs dangle down, mud and water dripping from them

A Ruff takes flight as the water it was stood in became too deep due to the tide coming in. We can see all of the wing feather patterns, one wing showing the top and the other the underwing.
I was counting the Teal at RLV this morning when I spotted this Ruff hanging out with the godwits. Luckily it got much closer as the tide came in. The light was dingy so not great photos, but I like the flight shots.

A redshank takes flight after being chased by a Spotted Redshank. A Black Headed Gull looks on
The Spotted Redshank off RLV took a dislike to this Redshank, chasing it in a circle until it flew off. Not seen that much antagonism between the two species before.

A Stock Dove is looking suspiciously at the photographer. They are very easily spooked
A Spotted Redshank wades along a water-filled channel in an overcast grey mudflat
A Song Thrush sings from a lichen adorned branch
Lytchett Fields was back to normal today. The Little Gull was too far away to photo. Other residents were more obliging. Jays and Stock Doves are really difficult to get a shot of, Song Thrush not so much.

The Rookery local to Lytchett Fields RSPB seems to have started expanding in the past year or so, and now has an outpost in the recording area. They were quite busy in the sun on Monday.
