Recent estimates place #M52 at ~5400 ly. The cluster our camera captured is the one that existed in the 34th century BCE. Had we been there with a powerful telescope aimed at Mesopotamia, we might have seen the first scribes pressing protocuneiform signs into clay... unknowingly inventing writing!

A stunning telescopic view of Comet Lemmon fading as it journeys toward the outer solar system. The image showcases the comet's greenish coma alongside the rich starfields of Cassiopeia, including the open star cluster M52 and the Bubble Nebula (NGC 7635). A satellite streak is also visible, adding to the celestial scene.

A stunning image showcasing the Bubble Nebula (NGC 7635) and the open star cluster M52. The Bubble Nebula, a 10 light-year wide cosmic bubble blown by a massive star, contrasts beautifully with the much larger, 25 light-year wide M52 cluster containing thousands of stars. Both celestial objects reside in Cassiopeia and are captured against a rich backdrop of stars and interstellar gas, creating a mesmerizing deep-space scene.
