MacWhisper transcrit aussi localement l’audio sur les iPhone et iPad MacWhisper porte désormais assez mal son nom, puisqu’il ne s’agit plus seulement d’une app pour le Mac. Cet outil de transcription de l’audio grâce au modèle Whisper conçu par OpenAI est en effet désormais disponible sur iOS, pour l’iPhone et l’iPad. L’app était déjà proposée sur l’App Store, nommée Whisper Transcription sans doute pour éviter des problèmes avec Apple autour du nom de ses ordinateurs et il s’agit maintenant d’une app universelle, compatible avec le Mac, l’iPhone et l’iPad. Whisper Transcription sur un iPhone. Image iGeneration. Le principe général est le même que pour la version macOS, même si la première version de l’app iOS est nettement plus simple. Elle peut ouvrir un fichier audio depuis l’app Fichiers, depuis le menu de partage ou encore en enregistrant directement l’audio avec les microphones intégrés. La transcription se fera dans la foulée, par défaut en ligne par le biais de Groq (à ne pas confondre avec celui de xAI), même s’il est possible de télécharger un modèle sur l’appareil pour un fonctionnement entièrement en local. Comptez 600 Mo de téléchargement, puis quelques dizaines de seconde de traitement et le modèle local sera disponible. Sur mon iPhone 16 Pro, la transcription en local d’un fichier audio de 55 minutes demande un peu moins de 4 minutes et rend l’appareil bien tiède. Pour le moment, cette fonctionnalité est réservée aux iPhone 15 Pro et iPhone 16, mais les développeurs espèrent l’apporter à d’anciennes générations, si possible jusqu’aux iPhone 13. La transcription en ligne reste disponible pour les autres, même si elle est alors limitée aux fichiers de 25 Mo au maximum. Les créateurs de Whisper Transcription ne précisent pas le modèle exact utilisé sous le capot, même si un modèle Whisper Small multilingue semblerait assez cohérent par rapport à l’espace utilisé et les fonctionnalités proposées. Une fois la transcription obtenue, vous pourrez demander un résumé généré par une IA distante qui n’est pas précisée (probablement également Groq). Attention, il n’y a pas de confirmation quand on touche les boutons « Summary » et « Prompt », le texte sera automatiquement transmis au service distant pour être traité, ce qui n’est pas l’idéal d’un point de vue confidentialité. Malheureusement, ces fonctionnalités ne peuvent pas encore être désactivées, cela viendra peut-être. Si vous comptez l’utiliser avec de l’audio confidentiel, le mieux est encore d’activer le mode avion de votre iPhone ou iPad, cela n’empêchera aucunement la transcription en local… ou alors de ne pas payer. Résumé à gauche, interrogation à l’aide d’une IA à droite : les deux fonctionnalités additionnelles pour les transcriptions. Image iGeneration. Whisper Transcribe peut en effet être téléchargée gratuitement et l’app fonctionne sans payer si on utilise le modèle local. Un abonnement est nécessaire pour la transcription en ligne et les autres fonctionnalités liées à l’IA, avec deux formules : 6,99 € pour une semaine ou bien 9,99 € par mois. Trois jours d’essais gratuits sont prévus. L’app nécessite iOS 17 au minimum, son interface n’est pas traduite en français.
