White moth resting with wings open on white fabric. On the wings are symmetrical dark markings oriented toward the midline of the moth that is marked a central area of rusty-brown, dark brown, white, and gray that may resemble birddroppings. The pattern is like that of Macrocilix maia, but not well-defined. Evolution still has work to do on this moth.

“Go to bed Evolution, you’re drunk!” #Macrocilix maia is a #moth. Wing markings show #flies feeding on bird droppings – incredible #camouflage #mimicy. Another species is “working on” a similar convergent pattern. The best #insect mimic I’ve ever seen. #TrusMadi Entomology Camp #Malaysia #Borneo
