I saw this cat at at this spot at the Los Escoriales viewpoint, in the Sierra de Andujar - part of the wider Sierra Morena that was one of only two areas of Iberia where the lynx never died out. An absolute treat, and a sighting that is a real credit to species #conservation. #mammalwatching

A species we very nearly lost, with only around 100 animals at the turn of the century. Thanks to habitat restoration, the protection of their main prey - rabbits, and a vitally important captive breeding and reintroduction scheme, the population is now well over 2000 animals. #lynx #mammalwatching
