The file size for this was so big that I had to export flattened layers in order to color the characters & rendering separate … I almost never need to composite my art like this.

That means March Hotel is wrapped up for 2026 and we hope it comes back in some form for 2027. It's a really cool event to be sure.

Building template and "March Hotel"-title are made by callmenaka, while rest of the art is by me. March Hotel was an art event held on Discord, where people joined to draw art. You paid "rent" to stay by posting art every day after timer resets. You would get "bankrupted" or even "evicted" if you didn't have enough coins. There was even a feature to go fishing, which randomly gave coins (or not). One of the optional quests was to draw March Hotel-building in any location we wanted, so I decided to draw a Truman Show-movie's ending reference, by having my fish-character standing at the top of he stairs. Behind them is a artificial sky, and door open to leave the place to bigger world. Down the stairs leads to the sea, hotel-building, and a boat with broken sail-cloth. Fish-character is standing upright, one arm spread open, and other holds a heart against their chest. They are teary-eyed, but happy. Text in the sky says "Thank you March Hotel", and text in the stair-platform says "No more fishing, no more rent. Only art and gratitude remains."
Thank you March Hotel. This event has meant so much to me. 💝

'March Hotel - GAR (Resident Goblin) - doesn't know howto make rent -- holds doors: hopes for tips - is a menace/annoying when "off the clock" - doesn't own much: steals other guest's clothes (they usually don't fit) Then a big picture of Gar wearing a much oversized March Hotel Uniform with description text: - 'not staff!' - 'stolen uniform (wrong size)' 3 other pictures show on the left side: - One looking at a black box with her hands clasped together, sparkling excitedly, "omg i wanna, i wanna, i wanna, i wanna, i wanna.' - One looking out of an abstract window towards a shooting star. She's torn out bedsheets to fashion a sort of nightgown. - She marches to go fishing, toting a fishing rod. Sticks poke out of her hair.
I've been doing March Hotel! I don't know if I got everything I could out of it but it's been a lot of fun. I'll probably post a compilation of all the random art a little later. But I want to retweet some of the other occupants in the meantime!
