While speaking to his woman: Clea, Doctor Strange kneels down, in the desert, to reach out to a lizard. He speaks: "LIFE -- the OPPOSITE of life is not DEATH, but NON-EXISTENCE. To DIE means HAVING LIVED -- but to NOT EXIST means being... NOTHING. To LIVE means to INFLUENCE THE COSMOS. One's ACTIONS, one's PRESENCE -- changes every being he meets. (Continued next panel)
He gently picks up the lizard, and continues: "The COSMOS is EVERYTHING! To affect any PART of the cosmos is to affect the TOTALITY! LIFE is the most PRECIOUS GIFT the cosmos can BESTOW... and it is the lot of DOCTOR STRANGE to PRESERVE the gift." A single tear escapes his eye. (Continued next panel)
He kneels back down and gently releases the lizard, so it may continue on its way. He speaks once more: "This lizard means EVERYTHING to me... just as ALL living things do! The lizard is SACRED in it's existence! For a few seconds, I held the life of a SACRED BEING in my hands. What an AWESOME responsibility!"
