A clip I recorded of a radio playing VOA Burmese at 6:30 a.m. in #Maungdaw, #Rakhine State, #Myanmar, while reporting the #Rohingya crisis in January 2020. They’re extremely useful to those who were affected by the internet shutdown and who are unable to access media in war zones around the world.

The #ArakanArmy (AA) has ordered the #Rohingya in Gongna Hamlet, Ngan Chaung, Northern #Maungdaw, to evacuate by 6 PM today.

73 houses, 500 innocent lives—nowhere to go. Some have no other safe option but to seek refuge in #Bangladesh. This #cruelty must end!

From Jan 1-27, 2025, AA facilitated the return of 4,624 displaced people to Maungdaw, including 1,724 Muslim families (2,600+ people) and 900 Rakhine families (2,000+ people) from 15 villages.

Now the question is: will Rohingya be safe? Will they escape genocide?
