🤯 We’re hearing CDCR wants to spend $20 million…on consultants to “learn how to save money.”

While Californians face devastating cuts, CDCR & related departments are quietly seeking $20 million for private consultants—buried in #MayRevise #CAbudget— just to be told how to reduce their own budget.

We’re continuing the fight to protect overdose prevention funding!

Now is not the time to cut millions from the CA Overdose Prevention & Harm Reduction Initiative (COPHRI) as proposed in the Governor's #MayReivse.

Save COPHRI and save lives!

The Legislature and Governor must continue to invest in more access to services along the continuum of care and housing instead of funneling money to jails and courts to meet the demands of #drugwar era criminalization under #Prop36.

However, the #MayRevise also freezes Medi-Cal enrollment, increases medical costs for low-income adults without legal status, & reinstates asset limits on seniors

The #MayRevise cuts vital overdose prevention funding and AIDS Drug Assistance Program which are essential in saving lives.

Our California state budget must prioritize #HealthNotHarm.

The #MayRevise fulfills a number of commitments, such as behavioral health workforce expansion through BH-CONNECT. This coupled with the release of #Prop1 funds will enhance access to behavioral health services, treatment, & housing. 🧵

- Poor, working families who can’t afford $2400 a year
- Dental care gone for these families, too.

CA’s #MayRevise Budget falls short.

It misses a critical chance to lead with our values.

As the federal government scapegoats immigrants & slashes support for vital programs, CA must stand up—not step back.

“The Governor’s May Revise is proof that Trump’s actions are hurting our economy.

Our state budget, once in surplus, is now facing a deep deficit. While there are some positive proposals — such as a reduced cut to the UC system, funding for statewide vaccine distribution, and support for universal school meals — we have very difficult decisions ahead.

Our Budget Subcommittees have about 50 public hearings scheduled over the next few weeks, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to deliver a budget that prioritizes our most vulnerable communities.”

Today’s #MayRevise proposal looks to immigrant families barely scraping by to cough up $2 billion to fill the state’s budget deficit.

Meanwhile corporations and the rich aren’t asked to contribute a single penny.
