Hell Street label. Tom McCluskey was a boxer, a trainer and a storyteller who mined his early years on Dorchester Street for colorful tales. Before the fights in Charlottetown, Tom recalled, schoolboys would go into the ring and box. They weren't paid, but the crowd woudl throw coins if they liked what they saw. Tom took his younger brother Ace, when Ace was around eight. The crowd was a tough one. "Look busy", an oldtimer advised over the heckling. "The better the show, the more they throw." Ace made a couple of bucks that night and went on to a pro career of 127 fights, losing just five. Tom knocked out an opponent in the U.S. in only 17 seconds, earning him a New England record that stood for years. His boxing career was cut short by a war injury, but gained international acclaim as a Trainer. Four McCluskey brothers are in the P.E.I's Sports Hall of Fame for Boxing
