A black and white, slightly low-angle shot of a hallway. The hallway is dark, with the walls and floor a deep black, emphasizing the contrast with a sliver of light coming from an open doorway. A person is walking away from the camera towards the open door and bright light on the other side. The figure is a silhouette, with no visible details. Framed paintings or artwork are affixed along the walls. The ceiling is a patterned grid of light gray squares. The light from the doorway on the other side of the hallway seems to illuminate the floor creating a bright trail fading back into the dark.

A grayscale, architectural interior shot. A narrow hallway or passageway is shown, with a significant portion shrouded in deep darkness. A single figure, appearing as a silhouette, is seen walking through a lighter area, which is an opening or doorway into the deeper hall. The light creates strong shadows, with the illumination focused on a path that leads to the opening, emphasizing the depth and perspective of the space. The walls and floor are textured, but the focus remains on the contrast between light and dark. The overall impression is one of mystery and spaciousness, with a strong sense of depth provided by the interplay of light and shadow.

I love museums for photography. Usually there is interesting architecture and people are absorbed in the exhibits.

At the age of 25, German lithographer and painter Marianne Fiedler painted this portrait (sometimes referenced as Afrikanerin or African Woman) of an unidentified lady that captures not only the fashion and styles of Europe in the late 1880s, but the emotion and spirit of being Black woman during that time period in European history. Fiedler was a classmate (and friend) of fellow female German artist Käthe Kollwitz and one of the first women to present her works in a solo exhibition at the Kupferstich-Kabinett Dresden in 1894. She led an independent life and devoted herself entirely to art. In the summer of 1900, Marianne Fiedler met Johannes Müller. At that time, Fiedler was a well-known and successful painter and lithographer. She exhibited her works and received numerous commissions. Müller was a charismatic figure, a "life coach, nationalist prophet, and founder of Schloss Elmau." Although Fiedler had previously considered the life of an artist incompatible with marriage and motherhood, she married Müller on June 2, 1900, in Schliersee in Müller's apartment. There was no church wedding, as Müller had been divorced from his first wife since 1894. On May 17, 1901, Marianne gave birth to their first son, Hans Michael, in her parents' house in Dresden. On February 25, 1902, their daughter Eva Friderika was born. In the winter of 1902/1903, Marianne was diagnosed with heart disease. Nevertheless, she became pregnant again and gave birth to her second daughter, Marianne, on February 7, 1904. A week later, Marianne (Fiedler) Müller died of pneumonia at the age of 40. After her death, Fiedler fell into obscurity as an artist. It was not until 2014 that she received renewed attention, when her granddaughter Micaela Händel discovered in her estate, an original drawing by the well-known Käthe Kollwitz, her first self-portrait. Kollwitz had apparently given the work to Fiedler, which is why it is assumed that the two women were close friends.

Snowy romantic cemetery scene; rocky hills in the background, layered with evergreen trees, and a church ruin. The ground and markers are covered in snow. Surrounded by a heavy gold frame.
