22 is not a lot, but that's only people with medium accounts WHO clapped. There are an astonishing number of people who read and don't clap, either because they didn't feel compelled to, or because they don't have Medium accounts (since my stuff is not hidden behind the member-paywall, many of my readers are from off-platform, drawn from places like here on BlueSky or Facebook or whatever). So, since so few people are clapping, I need 50 from everyone who bothers to do it at all. 2 is almost hurtful, Lannie.
I hope you guys know, I can see EXACTLY how many claps you give, and if you give fewer than 50, I'm kinda looking askance at you.

I literally have no constructive notes for Pluribus. The show is centered around one of the most dynamic and compelling performers going right now, being specifically and pointedly written for by one of the most talented and consistently-compelling creative voices on the planet and, at his behest, all the limitless resources that Apple TV+’s push for streaming dominance provides (plus Gilligan’s reputation and prodigious CV, which make just about everyone eager to work with him). It has everything in the world going for it, and Pluribus does everything in the world with that embarrassment of riches. For my money, this is superlatively good television. But it hit a lot harder than just ‘a really good TV show.’ It’s my favorite first season of any show ever to air, and it’s not even really close. It all boils down to one reason: I’m a huge narcissist. Never has a character on television (or streaming) more reminded me of me than Carol Sturka, and I responded to that.
This moment made me WEEP, y'all! My Pluribus 'review' is framed around it. I don't really write 'reviews,' actually, if you've ever read one. I write memoir/personal-narrative stuff themed around films. It's a bit of a different gear, and the pieces are often lengthy, but I think if you try it, you'll like it.
Goddamn, but I related to Carol. Oscar, from The Ugly Monster, picked this image as the Featured/Story image for the piece we just published, and I think he made the right call. One of hundreds of great still images I pulled from Pluribus for my review, and prob the best for our porpoises 🐬🐬
This image was the first image I used, and was my BlueSky banner for a couple of weeks (you guys all remember). Another incredible image from Pluribus that illustrates, at a glance, the feeling or theme the show is dealing with, and is nfn how I feel literally all the fucking time, lol.
