Every thing they publish is fucking terrible so it makes sense they wouldn’t publish me. They have a huge audience, but it is probably mostly idiots, based on what they publish and champion.

Counter Arts is one of the few #MediumPublications I submitted to that rejected me, and every time I see a terribly-fucking-stupid article from them with an #AI generated feature-image, I’m, like, “Huh! Dodged a bullet, actually.”

Title of my review is "My inner-child got pretty externalized watching KPop Demon Hunters" and it shows a little Featured badge where the editor decided to give it some extra love. Let's return the favor, shall we?

Well, I'll be damned...

I'm 4/5 on my last #Medium stories being 'Featured' by the #MediumPublications I wrote them for.

That's hard to beat! It's a smaller pub this time, though, so it still needs love from #FilmSky and #WriteSky folks 🥰

I'm batting .750 over the last 4 at-bats, which is rare enough in baseball, and I'd argue rarer in Medium publishing.

I don't *want* to brag, but I'm gonna...

3 of my last 4 #Medium stories were Featured by the #MediumPublications I wrote them for. I'm on a bit of a roll...

I mean, it *feels* right! I am a #featurewriter 🧐

List: #KCookandCatsCo Published Elsewhere | Curated by K. Cook & Cats, Co. | Medium #KCookandCatsCo Published Elsewhere · Believe it or not, other people occasionally support and promote the stuff that I write. When they do, I'm eternally grateful. I'd go to the mat for any of these ...

This is pretty fun! 🤩

With that most-recent #Bond piece for #Cinemania, there are now 13 times #KCookandCatsCo #writing has been published in #MediumPublications, and I've gathered those in a list: kcookandcatsco.medium.com/list/kcookan...

#LOL! 😆

I had nothing to do with this, but the procedurally generated #Medium window after my article promises "More from #KCookandCatsCo and #Cinemania" and then shows 4 pieces of mine and not 1 of them is even on Cinemania 🤣😅

We love Gaby! She needs some more followers, good grief! Maybe she'd get on BlueSky more often if she had more than 70 followers. Gaby and Cinemania publish K. Cook & Cats Co. stuff more than any other Medium publication. If there's a home for #KCookandCatsCo content on Medium, it's Cinemania. We love Cinemania!

Oscar is, without question, the fussiest and most meticulous editor I've EVER worked with, and I used to work for a newspaper, lol. However, I always feel that the pieces that Oscar and I work on together benefit from his insight and editorial perspective, and always come out as stronger, more readable pieces for all of his (fussy as hell) input. We love Oscar, as well! And this is the Medium Publication we write for that has the largest footprint (besides Books Are Our Superpower, which I'm not even they sure knows I write for them).

Still doing these! 🤓

@gabyfilmmaker.bsky.social & @theuglymonster.bsky.social are (very) honorable mentions, bc Gaby is the #editor of #Cinemania and Oscar is the editor of #TheUglyMonster, 2 #MediumPublications that publish #Kcookandcatsco. They're important people! 🤩

Seems like she likes it! And she added me as a contributor to the publication (which I wanted to be anyway! that's a huge win, in itself), so that all seems auspicious. I just have to wait for her to click the buttons on her end now, probably. Or maybe she totally surprises me and actually rejects this piece, lol. That's definitely happened to me before.

This is probably a good sign, right? 🤔

This one I already self-published, because I wasn't yet set up as a contributor for Deconstructing Christianity properly. Hilariously, Lilith (the editor) had accepted an already-published submission from me once, that she loved, and then closed that method of submission, lol. She was happy to have my Superman piece, but it also made her realize she didn't want any other submissions like that. So I already published this, but I think she might republish it. She loved it, anyway. She wrote a bunch of nice notes and highlighted stuff and so forth, added it to a list called "Great Articles." Odds are good, but it's also nearly a 40-minute read-length, lol.

Oscar and I have been working together on the Pluribus piece, so I'm almost certain that's coming out, I just have NO Idea when, and he's worse than the Oracle at Delphi about nailing down specifics. It's like trying to write with Nostradamus. So, it'll come to pass, just not sure when, and that's frustrating because yesterday was the best time for it to have come out.

The MI6 Bond thing I've referenced here on BlueSky; I'm going to watch 'all' of the Bond movies. But I only like 2 of them, so I'm watching those in full (Casino Royale and GoldenEye) and then starting with Dr. No, I'm going to watch each of the Bond Films until I nope out and make note of why it's so bad I had to quit.

I suspect I will glean useful things about Bond and the Broccolis and storytelling from all this, but it's a bit of a shot in the dark, and it's mostly to correct some gaps in my knowledge re: Bond bc I think the movies are all terrible and I've only seen a handful.

This is fun, by which I mean stressful.

I have 3 pieces fully written that are out to #MediumPublications (attached).

I have no control over them at this point. You guys will def see them, but the timeline is out of my hands.

Medium says it's 2,830 words, but the way I write, it feels like ~800.

Oof!

The new piece is naturally subdivided into 3 sections, and I'm only partway into the 2nd section and it's 2,830 words and an 11-minute read length already...

So I'm already past the hard line a lot of #MediumPublications draw for length 😑

... however, it's putting tough ❓s to me, like: 'DO I have a lusciousness for life?'

This might honestly be beneath me, but God, do I want some of their readers 😅

Being a #writer is fucking hard, y'all. No one believes me, but it's true.

Really soak that in. "We're a lifestyle publication for the way you live, and the way you want to live." That means literally nothing. "You have a lusciousness for life," do I? I'm not sure that I do or that that's even a thing anyone says. Hm!

I'm obsessively stalking #MediumPublications, bc I need them to republish my old #writing on the platform to help build my audience, & I just came across #Publishous.

No way you guessed the pronunciation; I didn't. "Pub-LISH-us" like 'delicious.' So, dumbest name ever, but I covet their audience...

Really starting to rack up these #rejections from stuck-up #MediumPublications cosplaying as ‘real’ (to their minds: old-world, #printmedia, dead modes of #writing) #critics & #journalists 😆

Dan didn’t read. They weirdly never actually do, though they should!

1 way I know #GonzoCriticism is good…
