This is good news and hopefully helps the case against the plans for a huge intensive unit at #Methwold in #Norfolk

The ‘mega farm’ proposals for #Methwold in my constituency are bad for the environment, bad for animal welfare and bad for local residents.
I’ve written to the Environment Agency to highlight my concerns on behalf of local residents and ask that they refuse to grant an environmental permit
Ditch at Nattergal High Fen Wildland absolutely crawling with a new Caddisfly larva for me - a Limnephilus species I think. Their intricate cases seemed to be made from criss-crossed Juncus or Reed stems?

Under the big skies and relative simplicity of fenland landscapes there is space just to be.

Common Mallow along Eelsfoot Drain; clouds & Yellow water-lilies in Common Drain; hares & male Marsh Harrier (along with oystercatchers, lapwings & common tern) at Rosedene Farm, #Methwold #Norfolk #Fenland #Fens #TheFens #30DaysWild @Britnatureguide 2/3
The hares, doing their March thing, right on cue.

A Barn Owl levitated through the still air in search of an early breakfast.
Regiments of dishevelled Bullrushes (Tyha angustifolia) along the ditches, looked longingly across at the still-fair chorus of maiden-like Reeds (Phragmites australis)

Winter trees at the #Breckland/#Fenland edge, Methwold, against the big #EastAnglian sky where Kestrels hover and Skylarks sing. (Not quite the colour of the roadside Common Field Speedwells (Veronica persica)).

A choir of Starlings whistling and chickling the joys of spring from theirs pews on the sunnyside of #Methwold Church spire, while the Rooks are busy a-nesting.
A nearby pond ripe for restoration?

#MyWalk along the Cut-off Channel accompanied by the constant peep-peep of Teal from behind the Channel's Alder & Birch fringe. And the occasional giggle of Dabchicks as the sun set. #Methwold Church high up on the hill (20 m asl!), with winter cereals all around. #Norfolk 4/5
#Fenland factories of energy from 2 sources: solar (#Methwold) & sugar beet (#Wissington). Good view from giddy heights (10+m) of sandy Green Lane, at W edge of #Breckland, over the Cut-Off Channel to #Fenland. It acts as cut-off between the 2 classic #EastAnglian landscapes. 3/5
WELCOME BACK Friend Sun! Even enough warmth to melt (some of) the hard overnight frost. On this windless day the whole countryside bask in it, including this lovely old hedge bank along (dry) String Drain, #Brookville, #Methwold #Norfolk. Rooks busy at their nests. #MyWalk 1/5
Lovely patch of millet seething & twittering in finches, mainly chaffinches but also goldfinches, a few bramblings & reed buntings, W end of Queens Drain #Methwold. The roes weren't impressed by the surrounding war on pheasants and associated tank like 4WDs. #MyWalk #Norfolk 1/2
Thrilling flock of 1000s Lapwing & Golden Plover - biggest I've seen all winter - making great writhing shapes against the grey sky & delightfully noisy with it. Between #Methwold Lode & Herringay Hill. Heard several snipe scritching away too. #Ourworldisworthsaving #MyWalk 1/4
