In @jcb.org, Zych, Hatch et al. @fredhutch.org demonstrate that reduced RCC1 levels in #micronuclei impair protein export, causing persistent micronuclear growth, nuclear lamina gap expansion, and rupture. rupress.org/jcb/article/...

Very weird looking cell with a ring of yellow bundled microtubules surrounding a sort of hollow core with thick F-actin and long, buckled microtubules (MTs) emanating from under the nucleus, which is very lobular and misshapen. The ring of MTs contains lots of little micronuclei. There is a long, thin strand of DNA going from the nucleus out to the rim, in parallel with several of the spoke MTs.

Zooming in on the DNA strand running alongside the spoke-like microtubules from the fragmented nucleus to the thick bundled MT rim, where it is connected to a small micronuclear blob.

This huge cell senescent survived 7d of paclitaxel, re-plating, & 4d more on plastic. Stained for #DNA (blue), #microtubules (yellow, red in zoom) and #F-actin (purple). Major #cytoskeleton weirdness.
Check out #DNA strand being pulled into the peripheral whorl of #micronuclei.
