The is a walkway coming from the top of the barn shaped building that goes across to the top of a group of at least 3 silos. The silos have a small 1 story building on top. The main buildings are all constructed out of brick that has been painted a cream colour and the silos are constructed with cinder blocks. The flat crossing of the West London Railway and the Great Western Railway in 1844, looking west. A West London Railway train stands on the north side of the crossing behind a crossing gate, having just emerged from the short tunnel under the Grand Union Canal Paddington Branch. Archaic signals can be seen at the crossing and a crossing keepers hut, with a signaller stood arm outstretched at the crossing. A GWR train towards London can be seen approaching the crossing about to pass under Scrubs Lane. The 'down' GWR track has been badly drawn by the artist, with two rails merging into a single rail.
#OnThisDay 181 years ago the West London Railway opened, now part of the @TfL #Mildmay Line. It ran from Willesden Junction to Kensington Olympia via Shepherd's Bush crossing the GWR on the level at Mitre Bridge, depicted here. Passenger services lasted a mere 6 months. 🧵1/3
