Win Rozario’s family was supported by the mother of #SeanBell, killed by NYPD in 2006; the mother of #MohamedBah, killed by NYPD in 2012; the brother of #AllanFeliz, killed by NYPD in 2019; and SO MANY community members that the CCRB had to create an overflow room.

This #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, we are remembering #MohamedBah, who was killed in 2012 by NYPD after his mother called 911 for an ambulance. Police have NO place responding to mental health calls or engaging those who need care. We need REAL investments in support services, NOT cops.

All New Yorkers deserve to feel safe. Too often, police escalate crises, harming + traumatizing the very people who need care the most. As the stories of #ImanMorales, #MohamedBah, #KawaskiTrawick, #WinRozario, and far too many others prove, the NYPD is the wrong agency to respond to #MentalHealth.
