The children proved to us that left with technology and heritage (and with no prompting we might add), that they could devise an energetic and enjoyable game!

Photograph of Edgar Degas's painting "The Song Rehearsal" (1873) in a gilded gold frame. The painting depicts three figures in a salon, two women performing from song books, their hands raised as if in motion, and one man at the piano.
It's #MuseumWeek! Featuring a special painting: "The Song Rehearsal" (1873) by Edgar Degas. Known for his playful compositions of color and light, Degas often mimicked movement in his static works. Check out the object file, or better yet, come visit it in the Museum! #MovementMW
It is Museum Week! On June 3rd, we explore the theme of movement:
In Western medicine, prosthetics became more common after World War I. With many soldiers being injured, the need for more practical prosthetics grew.

A page from an advertising booklet. A square jawed, ruddy cheeked, besuited all-American businessman with briefcase and hat waves goodbye to his winsome wife before heading off for a day at work. Presumably he has just breakfasted on a hearty, fibre-rich bowl of All Bran. The caption reads "The Road to Regularity".
In something of a mixed metaphor from the previous "Road to Regularity", the following page in the All Bran promo booklet opts for a railway analogy. It discusses the "alimentary timetable" of how "regular elimination means food goes through your body on schedule - like a railroad train." Diagrams of the digestive system at different times of the day demonstrate this Kellogg's fuelled shitting schedule.
Today #MuseumWeek has a theme of movement. So, how about bowel movements? Specifically, keeping them regular. More specifically this Kellogg's All Bran promo from the museum's collection that makes taking a dump look like a slice of Norman Rockwell Americana. #MovementMW

Todays #MuseumWeek topic is #MovementMW. Following on from yesterdays post about the testimonies of those who were removed from their homes during the Highland Clearances there are stories of inward migration.
A person rides a bicycle, looking back at an empty road, with a grand architectural monument gate in the background in retro colors.
Let's get moving to the second day’s topic of #MuseumWeek is #MovementMW.
Happy World Bicycle Day! 🚴
Albert Einstein said, "Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving." Let's keep pedaling forward, embracing new ideas & perspectives!

🔊 Speakers on!
We're celebrating #MuseumWeek all this week, and for today's theme, #MovementMW, this aerial view shows the Abbey's bells in full swing.
The ten bells were made at the Whitechapel bell foundry, and can be heard ringing out to mark church festivals and royal occasions.

Painting of William Harvey. Harvey is shown a middle-aged white man, with white hair, slightly balding on top and a small white moustache and a white van dyke style beard. He is wearing a black robe over a white collared shirt and orange jacket. He is seated on a red and gold chair. A classical column and red curtain are in the backdrop.
#OTD 1657 anatomist & physician, William Harvey died.
He had lived through an extraordinary age of scientific revolution to which he contributed a significant & controversial discovery - that blood is pumped around the body by the heart in a state of ceaseless motion.
