At times I worried it was too tight, then I worried it was too loose. But Ysolda T. was right — one must trust the pattern. It fits perfectly, as it turns out.

I ADORE this pattern. Simple, well written, tons of sizes and gauges, and a hat that does what a hat is supposed to do... This one will be finished outside-in, I like the purl side better.

First half of my second Musselburgh hat done. I love the long colour changes in a Scheepjes Whirl 😍 Now just to decide what sort of stitch to do for the second half 🤔

A column of newly tidied joins, still visible but more stable and smoother in the striped knot fabric.

And here's the result. I used a long strand of the dark green and duplicate stitched the green joins, zigzagging down the back to the next section. It helped close some gaps created by pulling the yarns up during knitting. Good enough.
