The much rumored trade to the #SanAntonioSpurs for former #OregonState legend #SteveJohnson, was finally made after delay a two over the past few weeks. It was thought to be set aside yet again two days ago during the @nba.com Draft but was finally done today. Thompson, the first pick in the 1978 #NBADraft, played 8 years with the #Blazers. Thompson played a total of 551 games, the third most at the time of the trade.

Johnson, who is the son-in-law of the former Blazers GM #StuInman, has played five seasons in the league. He has played 2 1/2 years with the #KansasCityKings, 1 and 1/2 with the #ChicagoBulls and last year with the #Spurs.

Besides being the then career-leader in Rebounds (4878) and Blocked Shots (768), Thompson was ranked in the Top-5 in Points, Assists, and Steals at the time of the trade. Thompson is still Blazers the All-Time leader in Blocks, ranks third in Rebounds, and 10th over all in scoring. Thompson was also the first Blazers player to ever score 40 points or more in a playoff games when he hit the mark vs the #KansasCityKings in 1981.
