Reminded again about how shit #myki system is. Why would my virtual Myki need to expire? Surely you should be able to simply extend the expiry based on usage at any time, not just in the last three months prior to the expiry?

New yellow Myki card reader on station platform at Mordialloc

Surprised to see they installed new #Myki card readers at Mordialloc station, which will be demolished soon for rebuild. But then I read that it won’t happen until mid-2026, so it makes some sense.
Less logical is apparently the already-demolished platform 2 got them as well.

A screenshot of iOS Home Screen. It has two Rhyno widgets added. One, wide size, shows a “can travel” status with $65 on the card. The other, small size, shows $9.60 and “low balance”. The first widget is labelled “Main Myki card”. The second widget is labelled “kid’s Myki card”.

You can keep track of a few Myki card balances using Rhyno’s widgets.

Set and forget, then watch your balance tick over during the week as you travel.
