In case anyone's curious about details, here's the pre-prepared statement I wrote and presented at the meeting with Balser. Because I was talking to a Conservative, I put the emphasis on how rising rents dampen growth by killing disposable income.

This went well, I think. Balser seemed to genuinely want to hear from us, and we were very clear about the role that fixed term leases play in undermining the rent cap and maintaining a culture of fear of reprisal among tenants.
We'll see what comes of it, if anything.
