A bakery tray loaded with sanguine peaches cut in half and the seed removed.

Picked up a bucket of sanguine peaches from a lady in town, time to freeze them all so we can make crumble all winter 😋.

Going to throw all the seeds down the back of the garden and hopefully start our own tree.

#Mara #NZGardening This fruit salad plant is in a 50L pot. Does anyone have ideas for frames for supporting its structure aa it grows? Im using dowel but I'm going to need something more heavy duty as it gets bigger. It is growing towards the light. There is electrical wire behind this wall.

#NZGardening What were your fave pro ecology/wilderness/gardening stories as a kid? Mine were Farewell to Shady Glade, The Lorax, The Secret Garden, The Wind in the willows. These stories esp The Lorax and The Secret Garden formed my desire to garden & green things up by stealth public planting.

#Mara I #NZGardening Lasagne composting. I created 2 Lasagne compost heaps this weekend with cardboard soaked, green vegetation (weeds, I've been weeding like a demon as we've had other things take up our time), and mulch from tree pruning that had been chipped. It makes great soil.

#KaiMara #Mara #NZGardening I used the chipped leaves and bark from numerous tree pruning events to make a lasagne compost bed. Layers are: leaves and weeds as fresh green vegetation, bark chip mulch as brown vegetation, then water soaked cardboard with sellotape removed as brown vegetation. Repeat.

Oi #NZGardening long tale of malicious birds short, I've had a real time of keeping chillis going, and the little plant that could has a few greenies left still. Thing is, the one reddening up now is rotted where the fruit joins the plant, should I pull the rest green (no damage) or wait and see?

Great to see this little pocket of life on busy Brougham St outside Prima Roastery in Ōtautahi. Nyctemera annulata - makokōrori or NZ magpie moth caterpillars feeding on a daisy relative. These weeds could easily have been sprayed or pulled. Nice to see what the alternative looks like. #nzgardening

We planted our mostly nz native windbreak, mostly following the miyawaki forest method, and it's growing so fast. Close to 3x as fast as the trees planted on their own! This section is a bit over a year old and started as tiny seedlings. #tinyforest #miyawaki 🌱🇳🇿 #nzgardening
