It was taken along the Brooklyn Promenade and tho it wasn’t the best picture, once changed to black and white it changed the entire meaning of the picture.

Ein beeindruckendes Astrofoto der Milchstraße in einer klaren, dunklen Nacht über einer ländlichen Landschaft. Im Vordergrund erstreckt sich eine weite, grüne Wiese, die in der Dunkelheit fast schwarz wirkt. Darauf stehen vereinzelt ein paar Häuser mit schwach beleuchteten Fenstern – ein kleines Gehöft mit roten und weißen Gebäuden, umgeben von Bäumen und Sträuchern. Dahinter erhebt sich ein dichter, dunkler Wald, der einen Hügel bedeckt und als Silhouette den Horizont bildet. Der Nachthimmel dominiert das Bild: Tausende Sterne leuchten hell vor tiefschwarzem Hintergrund. Die Milchstraße zieht sich als leuchtendes, farbig schillerndes Band diagonal von der Bildmitte nach oben rechts – in Weiß, Blau, Violett und Rosa mit rötlichen Nebelregionen. Der Kern der Galaxie strahlt besonders intensiv und erzeugt einen fast magischen Glanz. Am unteren Horizont ist ein leichter gelb-oranger Schimmer zu sehen, wahrscheinlich von entfernten Siedlungen oder dem letzten Rest der Dämmerung. Die Szene wirkt friedlich, ruhig und atemberaubend – ein perfekter Blick in die Unendlichkeit des Universums von einem lichtarmen Ort auf dem Land aus.

Il doit être temps de se lever. ... Non, pas encore. Je me retourne sous la couette tiède et plonge la tête dans l'oreiller. ... Et maintenant ? ... Non, toujours pas. 2h. Le réveil sonne. La nuit est au plus sombre, des astres palpitent dans le ciel. Le champ de fleurs tout humide de rosée nous ouvre le passage vers la forêt. La vue se limite aux gros troncs qui se succèdent, aux branches qui barrent le passage, au sol pentu tapissé d'aiguilles. On dépasse le petit sabot-de-Vénus, perd la sente, trace au plus court. Un animal souffle quelque part non loin. "C'était quoi ? - Un animal qui n'était pas très content qu'on soit là..." Devant moi, la frontale s'éloigne. Je peine, souffle, m'appuie sur les deux branches qui me servent de bâtons. Arrivent l'ancienne piste forestière et son marais de pétasites. Les ombelles vertes semblent encore plus larges dans la nuit. Des giclées de fougères jaillissent de la surface comme des palmiers. La vieille piste grimpe, rejoint l'autre, s'égare à nouveau. Et voilà la clairière. ... Ah non, celle-ci est trop petite, nous avons tiré trop à gauche. Quelques pas glissants dans l'herbe trempée, et les arbres nous aident à nous hisser. Plus rien n'existe que cette pente beaucoup trop pentue, la terre meuble, les troncs criblés de branches sèches. Mon souffle essoufflé. Mes pas. La nuit. Soudain, je débouche sur la crête. Des étoiles se frayent un passage à travers les pins, quelques brins de muguet frêles bourgeonnent. Tout en bas, on devine des villages et leurs lampadaires. À l'Est, l'horizon pâlit déjà. Et voilà la face de roc, si proche, si immense, presque noire devant le ciel d'encre criblé de mille et mille étoiles...
