A photo of a Green-eyed Hawker perched on Teasel. Females oviposit onto plants, and the eggs hatch in about 2 weeks. Larval development takes 2 years.
A photo of a Green-eyed Hawker in flight. Flight shots are notoriously difficult, but sometimes they hover, allowing a chance. This particular shot was the only success - I deleted nine others!
Green-eyed Hawker Aeshna isoceles, of the family Aeshnidae. Also known as the Norfolk Hawker.
I have to confess that I have a great love of odonata. I can't wait for next season.
