The site is a former factory (and before that, pleasure gardens...) cleared following the demolition of many buildings. The site has been covered over with layers of spoil from the digging of Crossrail in London and the Thames Tideway super sewer; the trucks are engaged in spreading chalk over dirt, followed by a final layer of more dirt. Now, a housing project, Cable Wharf (the factory made heavy duty cables) overlooking the River Thames. Shot on 21 July 2013 using a Nikon D7000 with 18.0-105.0 mm f/3.5-5.6 kt lens.

Landscape format. Taken above and behind a couple sitting by the River Thames, watching it pass. The lower part of the image shows metal fencing with, just above, the shoulders, heads and umbrellas of two people watching the river go by. Above the umbrellas, the river itself and its far bank. The two people are sitting at a small viewing platform between a (now demolished) cement factory and Kimberley Clark depot and factory, where Andrex is made. It is a fairly dreary spot, used by anglers and drinkers and photographers - Tilbury Docks is across the river and there are great views of shipping and boats going up and down the river. A wrought iron lighthouse, 16 metres high, built in 6 sections, the top section housing the light and a weather vane. It is painted red: in this picture, the paint is bright and indicates a recent re-painting job. The lighthouse is placed on the corner of what was a cement factory but was originally a short distance upriver. It was erected in 1883 and moved in 1968. It was situated at its original location to aid vessels navigating a bend in the river, into Gravesend Reach from Northfleet hope. The photo shows it on its concrete platform, its reflection in the water before it and a view across the river to Grays. The photo was taken from The Shore, Northfleet, a short stretch of road between Kimberley Clark's factory and the site of the cement factory; there is a viewing area there popular with anglers and photographers. Taken on December 2 2018 using a Nikon D7000 with an 18.0-105.0 mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens.
