Today is #TDOV & to celebrate I painted the newest portrait in my #NotJustCistory series & am publishing the blog post to go with it. Today we honor Sylvia Rivera, one of the creators of STAR House. She fought for and believed in a better future for herself & her trans siblings.

Another of my #NotJustCistory subjects has a blog post to go with her portrait! The Chevalière d'Éon was a French Spy during the 1700s & managed to be openly herself, & demanded the respect she was due. Read all about her fascinating life and escapades on my blog! #WomensHistoryMonth

Aimee Stephens' story is our next #NotJustCistory blog post. The 1st portrait of the series for #WomensHistoryMonth in 2022, I'm so glad she now has a dedicated post. She instigated the Supreme Court Case that granted trans folks protection under Title VII. buff.ly/o7SmCAJ
A screen capture of part of a google search result. Larger sans serif text reads "People also ask" and then underneath in smaller sans serif text it says "Was le Chevalier d'Eon a femboy?" to the right there is a dropdown arrow, presumably hiding the answer. I didn't open it. I don't think we humans are meant to know.
The research for this week's blog post continues apace.

I'm in the midst of writing the #NotJustCistory blog post that will be going live Friday as a part of #WomensHistoryMonth and it just hit me that the (deceased) subject is younger than my own mom, and I'm having feelings about this. #ProtectTransFolks #TransFolksDeserveElders
March is Women's History Month, which means I'll be publishing multiple new #NotJustCistory posts about famous trans women throughout history. Our first subject is Carmen Rupe, a Māori woman who spent her life advocating for LGBT+ rights & building a safe space for her communities. buff.ly/IqIsOZ2
This Trans Day of Remembrance I have shared the next installment in my #NotJustCistory series on my blog. It features Rita Hester, the woman whose death was the inspiration for the holiday.

It must be #NotJustCistory research time, because I've got a million tabs open!
I finally finished the #NotJustCistory blog post featuring #HollyWoodlawn! It was a long process, but I'm so glad to have finally shared her story! She was a trailblazer and was a part of music, film, and trans history! #HistorySky #FilmSky #MusicSky #NotJustCistory buff.ly/WkG7Irv
Sept 12 is #NationalVideoGameDay so of course I had to share abt Danielle Bunten Berry! She was 1 of the first Electronic Artists at EA, created the game M.U.L.E, & one of the 1st to create multiplayer video games! She was also a trans woman, & a part of my #NotJustCistory series!

I teased something really exciting the other day, but then didn't share what it was. Everything is finally photographed and ready to share!
I've created a set of Ancestor Cards; 10 historical trans individuals, & the flip side of each card is a bio. 🧵

Day 20: Danielle Bunten Berry, the game designer behind M.U.L.E. and 7 Cities of Gold, and the person whom Will Wright dedicated The Sims to, was a trans woman, and is considered to be the creator of multiplayer gaming. #PrideMonth #SimsSky #LGBTSky #GamesSky #TransSky #NotJustCistory
Day 10: The key to discovering that Dora Richter lived past WWII was an amendment to a baptismal record, correcting her name, from 1946, 10+ years after her previously assumed death! Record-keeping is important! #WorldHistory #NotJustCistory #DoraRichter #QueerHistroy #LGBTSky #PrideMonth #TransSky
Day 9: Dora Richter, one of the 1st recipients of a vaginoplasty in the early 30s, was assumed murdered during or just before WWII, but in 2023, a researcher named Clara Hartmann discovered Richter lived until the age of 74, passing away in 1966. #WorldHistory #NotJustCistory #PrideMonth #TransSky
Day 5: ‘76 Degrees of Wisdom’, a classic tarot reference text, was written by Rachel Pollack; a trans woman. She was also an author of science fiction novels & comic books! #TarotSky #PrideMonth #RachelPollack #NotJustCistory #LGBTSky
Happy Birthday Dora Richter! Born on April 16th, 1891, she was one of the first recipients of GRS in 1931. Until 2023 we thought she had died in a 1933 Nazi raid, but we now know that she lived until she was 74!
I wrote a blog post about Dora as a part of my #NotJustCistory series.
Happy birthday Bobbie Lea Bennett! Born in 1947, she was first to have her gender-affirming surgery covered by Medicare. They tried to back out of its commitment, so she drove cross-country to their headquarters & convinced them to keep their promise of coverage. #NotJustCistory
