A histogram, where the bins are the digits 1-9. Most of the bars are roughly the same height, but the bars for the digits 2, 4, and 8 are significantly higher.
Because I have lots of other work to do, I decided to use #Mathematica to scan the first 1000000 perfect squares for strings of repeated digits.
I broke each sq into same-digit strings, then for each of the digits 1-9 I counted how many strings were strings of (>1 of) that digit.
