Today #NuclearAbolitionDay, reminds us of our shared responsibility to work for a world free from nuclear weapons. I am honoured to have signed the #JointAppeal calling on governments to reduce nuclear risks, shift resources toward people and the planet, and achieve their total elimination by 2045.
79 years ago today, the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, killing 140,000 by year’s end. Days later, Nagasaki was bombed - another 140,000 lives lost.
