The figure shows a pretreatment MRI in a) T1 and b) T2 of a 63-year-old female with a pleomorphic sarcoma in the anterior compartment of the thigh who had neoadjuvant radiotherapy. The blue line is the measurement of oedema at the cranial edge of the tumour.
Oedema tail is associated with aggressive infiltrative tumours; 26% of them had tumour cells that would remain if we resected the tumour with a wide R0 margin, even with preoperative radiation.
