Onyx is a gay man, and to me it is important to his story. Most of his trauma stems from his mother. She was a very dominant figure in his life (more so than his father). However he is very respectful towards women, he’s just not attracted to them

I love Onyx because he is a flawed and stubborn character. He was born to perpetuate violence and despite escaping his circumstances, he never broke that cycle until he was well into his adult life because it was all he knew how to do.
