A fledgling Carolina Wren with a wide open beak anxious to be fed is perched on a diagonal lichen-covered branch which runs from the bottom right corner to the middle left of the frame. It is brown bird with a light, warm cream breast and belly, a light eyebrow stripe and dark eye and sits in the bottom left of the frame facing forward, head a little to the right. An out-of focus adult wren sits on the same branch above it, facing away from the viewer (butt view!) reaching down with their beak to feed its young. The darker brown adult bird, with a russet breast and belly, has its pinkish legs spread apart and its horizontally-striped tail points up to the top right of the frame. The background is very dark green at the top and becomes lighter green at the bottom.

This duck that I named "Saxony" lived at a local lake for a year or more. I usually saw it with 3 male Mallards. Its coloring hints that it was a Saxony breed of duck, a domestic escapee.
