Budget direction should start coming out from the wo shortly. This is the same bill that funded our DOI siblings. #ourworkmatters #bettertogether #nffestrong

Two Big Wins for local 5300
representing our
Law Enforcement Officers

1) FS LEOs will be receiving the 3.8% raise in pp 1. Local 5300 took quick
action working with management, partners and lobbying to ensure our
LEOs were included in the National LEO cost of living increase after they
were initially left off the authorization.

2) Journeyman 1801 and 1811 positions are receiving an extra grade on their
career ladders. NFFE has long held that the GL 1801 and 1811 Position
Discriptions (PDs) did not reflect the complexity of our work. The local,
alongside management, worked tirelessly to ensure that PDs were updated
and captured the work being done. The transition to the new PDs will
become effective starting in pp2. Those with time in grade will be promoted
in the same timeframe.

Roni Fein, CVP and local 5300 were specifically complimented for their
work getting these initiates across the finish line by Law Enforcement
and Investigations Director Tracy Perry

The email has a link to the leave restoration process- you'll need to work with your supervisor to gather the needed documentation. We only know what's happening at our agency- hopefully other agencies join in the restoration.

If the shutdown happens:

1 Report to work as usual Wednesdav for an "orderlv shutdown"(AL will be canceled) unless the
Forest Service informs you in writing that you are officially furloughed. Otherwise you risk an unexcused absence if you are not furloughed.

1a) Work devices will need to be secured at the office if you are not classified as "essential/exempt "
take them all in tomorrow eg hotspots, laptops, tablets, radios, agency vehicles & their keys.

2) follow us on socials: insta @nffe _fsc, fb @ForestserviceCouncil, bluesky @nffe-fsc.bsky.social.

Things to consider:
1) file an interim travel voucher if you are on a fire during this.

2) turn in leave requests for use or lose so they can be officially
denied, this allows the leave to be reinstated if you don't get
to use it.

3) update your timesheet(s).

3) stay within a 24hr call back range unless you have pre-
approved leave. Given flight times, this doesn't limit your
cheap beach options much.

What we have on good authority:
1) Folks working on priorities eg timber, minerals, and fire are
going to be "essential*."

2) RX burns are canceled

3) Depending on the nepa project, appeal/objection review teams will be "essential"

*Essential (Syn exempted) means working but not getting paid until a budget
is passed. Plan accordingly for commuting and daycare costs!

We got the 2019 Government Employee Fair Treatment Act passed.
NFFE fought hard to pass the 2019 Government Employee Fair Treatment
Act. This ensures that all furloughed employees will receive their backpay
retroactively upon the government reopening. No more hoping Congress
would vote to backpay us!

The President's Fiscal Year 2026 budget

devastating move that would shut down the
nation's most effective career training program
for underserved youth. Defunding Job Corps will
eliminate all U.S. Forest Service Civilian

well-trained candidates for battling wildfires and
stewarding our public lands.

CCC employees have already received notice
their centers may ne shut down within the next
few weeks - even before Congress approves any
budgetary changes. We must contact Congress
immediately to ensure the CCC's remain open
and are fully funded in FY26.
