This award has celebrated 4,000+ educators since 1983.

I’m a 2021 TX PAEMST awardee — and I’m heartbroken. NSF paused #PAEMST after $0 was allocated in the FY26 budget. This program celebrates #STEM educators shaping the future. We can’t lose it. Share your story. Contact policymakers.

#PAEMST has recognized & honored excellent #STEMteaching for over 40 years. Now, NSF has cut the budget so without #Congress refunding it, #PAEMST will cease to exist. Please reach out to your Congressional rep and Senators to ask them to #FundPAEMST & #SavePAEMST.
At The Conference for Advancement in Mathematics Teaching in San Antonio there were so many reminders of why math can be joyful, rigorous, and human-centered.

The future of our country depends upon a strong STEM program! We build that program when we identify exemplary teachers and provide them opportunities to lead. #SavePAEMST #PAEMST #CPAM

🚨 #PAEMST, the nation's highest honor for STEM teachers, has been DEFUNDED in the new NSF budget. This award was est by Reagan in 1983.
This award fuels classroom innovation, strengthens the STEM pipeline, and uplifts excellence in every community.
For 15 years, I’ve worked to make science inclusive, engaging, and empowering in Hillsborough. #PAEMST celebrates teachers who do just that and helps us keep doing it. Don’t let this vital program disappear. Restore funding now.

“America’s future depends on excellence in education.” – President Reagan at the 1983 #PAEMST ceremony. That’s still true. Let’s restore funding for this essential STEM teaching award. @NSF @andrewzwicker.bsky.social

Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching Rewarding & Inspiring Great Teaching Since 1983 PAEMST Awardee leads Bloomington High School South to $125K STEM competition win In the span of a school year, a team of teenage scientists in Bloomington, Indiana, designed an athletic hearing-aid headband, pitched their invention on a national stage, and won a $125,000 prize package for their school. Kirstin Milks - a 2019 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching recipient - was the coach and mentor behind the team. Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is an annual contest that challenges students to leverage STEM to improve their community. The contest is multiphase: teams submit proposals and activity plans, work with Samsung employees to develop prototypes, and create videos showcasing their products. It culminates in a live pitch where finalists present their solutions to a panel of judges. "The goal is to honor and support student- led innovation," said Milks, who teaches AP Biology and introductory science at Bloomington High School South.

So thankful to the PAMEST network for showing me how it's done - and to #SamsungSolve for supporting student change-making through #STEM innovation & #PlaceBasedScienceTeaching

My fellow #PAEMST honorees: the good people at the NSF want us to update our profiles by 6/30. Because reasons.
As you update, wisely “Save” after completing each section / prompt. The prompts require thought and composition. But the page will log you out after a certain interval.
I began teaching w/NSF curricula: CMP, MMOW. I learned: S-S discourse is THE key, we learn when engaged, math has a storyline. As a #PAEMST awardee, via NSF, I found my voice in nat'l math groups. A travel grant (NSF-NCTM) took me to ICME in Hamburg.
NSF is impactful. Ask Congress to retake control.
What a great way to end Teacher Appreciation Week 👩🏽🔬🍎 #iteachchem #blackedusky #paemst

I’ve been refurbishing The Treks of Phyz blog and enjoyed revisiting the old #PAEMST glory days.
There is no history if you don’t record it. So record it I did!

Students are also working on their climate art project, based on the work of artist Jill Pelto. They use graphs, analysis, and artwork to educate others about climate change. They’ve been very engaged. #PAEMST #EduSky

A bunch of STEM teachers who received a presidential award after years of delay, had given up thinking they’d ever get the monetary part of the award. Tonight the #NSF started their direct deposits. It’s a small thing, but it’s making me hopeful. #PAEMST
I know it doesn't even make the list of all the awful and overwhelming things going on in this country and in the world, but having #PAEMST awardees bios and quotes scrubbed is pretty gross.
