Thank you! This is my 8th year applying for a mentorship. It's hard to believe I've been at it that long. (I applied for mentorship 3x's through #PBChat and 4x's previously with #PBRisingStars). If THAT doesn't show my determination for a mentor, I don't know what does!
Agree about enjoying #kidlitchat on Tuesdays.
Also reminds me back to the Twitter days of #PBChat hosted by @justincolonbooks.bsky.social. I’ve made fabulous friends with #kidlit folks in that community. 💜
#amwriting but also staring at anything but the page, so I adorn my desktop with notes from #scbwi events.
It’s a fun trick I play on myself. 😎
P.S. I wish I’d invented the Post-it.

(Full disclosure: the author was my #PBChat mentee a few years ago so I am slightly biased but I honestly thought it was a great book!)
I was so excited to find SHARING SHALOM by my #PBChat mentee sister @daniraeshark and @selinaalko at my library @saratogaspringslibrary today!

Chooch Helped book
Go dog go cover
Closing time for tonight’s #pbchat - I recommend checking out this Caldecott Award-winning book.
Sorry for the scheduling conflicts this month - next month we are reading another all-time classic. Go, Dog. Go! Join us April 9th at 9pm e.
I’ve definitely seen pronunciation guides before but this was nicely presented, and helpful. Joy Chu was the art director and did a nice job. #pbchat
I really like that they added the pronunciation and how/where they did that. I'm trying to think if I've seen that in other picture books. #pbchat
I like that. I turned back to see if Chooch had left footprints somewhere, and he does a bit in the running away from the table spread. #pbchat
I feel that this book is a year or two too late to be helpful for my own kids, but it hit the nail on the head for a very specific older sibling grievance. #pbchat
My favorite spread is where her mom lifts up the carpet to show little feet prints on the floor. #pbchat
Rebecca Lee Kunz was not a children’s book illustrator before this - Author Andrea Rogers met her at Cherokee National Holiday. #pbchat
I must have felt this way, but I don't remember it much. I'm sure my parents would have loved a book like this to try to help me be kinder and more patient. #pbchat
Yeah,I meant #pbchat for this one. Oops!
Yes, i love this. #pbchat
My older son has had a “you let him get away with everything” complaint about his 5-years-younger brother, but seems to be coming out of it - or at least he’s stopped trying to make the argument 😆 #pbchat
I thought it was a really sweet portrayal of the dynamic. It felt pretty true to what I experienced with my own siblings—that switch from the help being a little annoying to seeing the growth as they learn more things. #pbchat
#pbchat Chooch Helped portrays indigenous Americans in a contemporary light, it has traditions and language unique to the culture, but also reflects any modern family’s life and dynamic.
#pbchat Has anyone else read the Caldecott award winner, Chooch Helped? It definitely addresses an older sibling/younger sibling dynamic that I’ve been experiencing in my house.
