I definitely have to give this a re-read. One of those extremely rare novels that had me a bit stumped visualising the environment, just hall after hall of flooded Greek columns, as someone with hyperphantasia.

Text: Piranesi | Susanna Clarke | Fantasy This was one of the first books I read this year, and when I finished it I looked at my wife and said, “I just read the best book of 2025. In January.” Technically I did rank one book above this, but I consider my top three so closely tied that any given day my favorite could change. Piranesi is a nearly perfect book. Thought-provoking, wonderous, weird, tragic, joyous, and beautifully written. I’d recommend it to everyone who likes reading. Period.
