Philip K Dick's novels & stories have more movie adaptations than any other SF author. But in all cases, his actual ideas get cut from the scripts, as too confusing or controversial.

His humanism & emotional honesty mix with capitalist content creation like oil and water.

On the cover of PK Dick's 'Solar Lottery' a human figure is standing in a strange looking alien landscape.

Ultimately found myself disappointed by 'The Divine Invasion' in the #PKDick readthough and I think I'm finally coming to terms with his VALIS books just not being for me. Much happier with how things are going with capitalism dystopia 'Solar Lottery' (via a short 'Second Variety' break). #booksky

Philip K. Dick: Prophet with James Tunney

"While acknowledging Dick's psychological disturbances and addictions, he explains that they, alone, cannot account for the brilliant creative output of many decades. He sees #PKDick as a prophet primarily." #Reality

I finally uploaded the chapter to my channel. My laptop hard disc is dying, so I nearly lost all my work.

I want to get to the next chapter sooner this time. The audio is already edited. Just need to add the illustration

Midway through a first-time read of 'The Divine Invasion' and I hadn't realised this was the second part of the VALIS trilogy. Partly wishing I'd re-read VALIS before coming to it, but let's face it... :) #PKDick #booksky

The cover the the PK Dick novel Galactic Pot-Healer. A ruined city, putting us in mind of Atlantis, appears to be rising through the surface of the ocean. In front of it is an enormous one-eyed octopus-like creature looking directly at us. It's unclear whether the creature lives in the abandoned city or is attacking it.

I quite enjoyed the relatively bleak, slightly sinister ending to 'Our Friends from Frolix 8' tonight. A bit of a contrast after the more hopeful 'Dr Bloodymoney.' Next up on the #PKDick catch-up is 'Galactic Pot-Healer'... #Booksky

The cover of the PK Dick sci-fi novel 'Our Friends from Frolix 8' shows how the future society is divided. On the left there is a normal looking man in a suit (the very bottom of the heap). In the middle is a strange looking man in a futuristic garishly coloured outfit. This is an "Unusual"; a mutant man with strange gifts. On the right, and in charge of future Earth is a New Man; a super-intelligent human with a vastly enlarged head and brain.

The latest in my previously unread #PKDick catch-up is like a glorious mixture of The 5th Element, X-Men and the Paranoia RPG. #booksky

A short excerpt from 'We Can Build You' by Philip K Dick in which a lead character gives some insight on her nihilistic view of the world. The text in full is below:

"Yes. Also spiders."

"Spiders in particular. Like the trap-door spider. I wonder how a spider feels when someone breaks its web to pieces."

"It probably says 'drat," I said.

"No," Pris said solemnly. "It gets furious, and then it abandons hope. First it's sore-it would sting you to death if it could get hold of you. And then this slow, awful blind despair creeps over it. It knows that even if it rebuilds, the same thing is going to happen again."

"But spiders get right out there and rebuild."

"They have to. It's inherited in them. That's why their lives are worse than ours; they can't give up and die-they have to go on.'

Partway through 'We Can Build You' on the #PKDick catch-up and it's full of classic moments. This particular exchange hits hard right now. Offt. #booksky

Early days with the next #PKDick on the unread list and it’s a bit like if David Lynch made Threads. #booksky

A humanoid figure walks through a bleak desert landscape on an alien planet. Above them, and we imagine spying on them, is what looks like an artificial dragonfly. Something is very wrong.

Been making my way through some of the #PKDick novels I’d previously missed and it turns out the bleak slasher-come-existential-crisis of ‘A Maze of Death’ is exactly what I needed right now.
