A look from above at a black metal tray filled with all the Imperial Guard miniatures I've been painting since January. Most are wearing urban grey camo uniforms. The list is as follows: 2 guardsmen with flamers. A platoon command squad: An officer with power fist and laspistol, and 4 guardsmen with melta guns. 3 heavy weapon teams with mortars, 3 with heavy bolters. Sly Marbo, painted with desert camo trousers and a khaki top. The ratling snipers from the Provisionally Prepared set. 2 metal tank crew miniatures. 1 wounded standard bearer. 10 hardened veterans with plasma guns and shotguns, painted with black uniforms. 12 metal Kasrkin with white armor and black uniforms, two each are having plasma guns and melta guns. 1 imperial pilot from the Battle for Macragge starter set, wearing a blue uniform and tan armor. 1 Lord Commissar and 5 Commissars, wearing white uniforms and black great coats with red trims. 1 wounded guardsman with his arm in a sling.
Marneus Calgar, the recently retired plastic miniature which has him in his custom Gravis armour, the Armour of Heraclus. Pretty much painted in the same scheme as on the packaging, with the exception of the bolters attached to his power fists: They are painted in red as a nod to my 3rd Edition Space Marine army. He is standing in front of an entry way (GW's Arcane Ruins painted in grey), visible in the background is a page of Jon Hodgson's World War Ruins backdrop books, showing more rubble and ruins.
Ancient Greek-themed miniatures, standing in a forest. Half of them are built as hoplites, two are sword fighters with shields, the last two are armed with ranged weapons (sling and bow). The group's clothes, shields and plumes of their helmets are colorful. The shields are without decals as I have yet to order them. They are accompanied by their trusty animals: A dog, an owl (sitting on the slinger's shoulder), and… a guinea pig with its tiny rider, which is standing on its own base, but can also be attached to the leader's base. Visible in the background is the statue of some strange mythical animal (it's a capybara really). Further behind is a page from Jon Hodgson’s More Skies backdrop book, showing a clear blue sky with some clouds approaching.
An image of the Paintslam 26 hobby log, listing the 67 miniatures I've completed in March, and those from the previous months. In total I've finished 110 miniatures this year.
I'm a day early, but I had time to do my end of the month roundup:
With 67 minis March has been very productive. This is mostly because of the 54 Guard minis I’ve been working on since January.
I expect this number to drop again in April, but I'm open to surprises. 😁
