The calm sea is dark grey, pushing up against the last golden haze of sunset. In the clear, darkening sky a passenger jet flies low, heading north-west. Even higher, a bright white streak of water vapor reveals a second aircraft: this one looks seems to be heading, rocket-like, straight up to the stars. (It’s an illusion: it’s actually moving south.) Sunset over a calm sea. Small waves ripple onto the sandy beach, reflecting golden-orange light from above. The water is dark grey, forming a sharply delineated horizon against the thick low mist in the distance. A few fluffy clouds drift low in an otherwise clear, pale sky. The setting sun casts crepuscular rays in yellow, gold and orange, and the undersides of the grey clouds are limned in fiery molten hues.
