Philodromus poecilus. Subadult female.
My first documentation of Philodromus poecilus (NT in Finland) this year. This seemingly fairly rare species has become one of my favourites.

A photo of a flat, crab-like, brown and tan spider with VERY long slender legs from above as it rests on a white painted background. The spider's legs are tan with brown bands and are very slender and long in proportion to its body size. The second pair of legs are the longest which is a characteristic of these spiders. The forebody, the cephalothorax is brown with a tan area in the middle, the abdomen is mostly brown with just a little tan.

A handsome member of the Running Crab Spiders, #Philodromidae. These may look like the famous Huntsman spiders, but these rarely get bigger than a dime.

Y aquí una vista frontal del macho. Se les llama arañas cangrejo corredoras, aunque no tengan nada que ver con las arañas cangrejo (Thomisidae).

Son súper planitas, viven en los huecos de la corteza de los árboles y no fabrican telaraña sino que cazan activamente a sus presas. Vista frontal de la hembra de antes.

En esta otra foto un macho que se encontraba justo al lado. Pensad que al natural se ven menos, porque en la foto destaca mucho la sombra proyectada por el flash. Son unas reinas del camuflaje.

Me fascinan las Philodromidae que se camuflan en las cortezas de los árboles, me encanta encontrar estas arañas planas en los paseos nocturnos. En la foto una hembra.

A small triangular moth fly. It's ellipsoidal wings are striped with brown hairs and translucent sections. It's small body is also covered in profuse hairs.
A brown and tan running crab spider. These spiders have long legs (the second set longer than the first) and a compact body.
The spider is on the left rapidly approaching the moth fly on the right whose legs are already iff the side of the house in preparation for flight.
