Parents will sometimes express they feel somewhat lost or invisible when raising young children, and this wolf mom just might understand. She narrowly missed #Arachtober but that's on me for not finding her sooner and sharing her and her hundred+ babies with y'all 🖤

This Wetland Giant Wolf Spider (Tigrosa helluo), paralyzed by a Rusty Spider Wasp (Tachypompilus ferrugineus) sting is being dragged to its grave where it will be eaten alive by the wasp's larvae, in the dark.

Happy Halloween! Here's Acorn the false widow taking down a fruit fly 💀 #arachtober

Spider with bright red opisthosoma, but as mentioned it's hairy and has a few black and white spots looking like raspberry seeds. It's not massively round like the pumpkin one. Legs are light and dark striped

I forgot to post this, but iNat suggested it was the same species. I don't think so, because mine has a hairy/deflated raspberry like opisthosoma texture.

I've let be all those early fall webs around my windows because of spider posters like you. I've enjoyed #arachtober!

And here is my new favorite arachnid. She's a Solifugid, or wind scorpion, and is busy working on making a burrow for herself. When hunting, these animals move rapidly and tap their pedipalps on the ground to sense prey. #Arachtober

This was the most special spider encounter - at dusk in July in Pinnacles National Park a few years ago. Lucky we started the hike late in the afternoon or we wouldn't have seen it.

Lots of tarantulas live in burrows. One year when we were in the rainforest and all the trails were flooded we were finding tarantulas up on plants to get clear of the water. They seemed very vulnerable. #Arachtober
