My 2nd attempt at light ART! Maybe next time I’ll use a bit of colour.

Photograph of old Septa station at City Hall in Philadelphia, layered with a photograph of the PMA. Shot with e-6 film layered and photographed on a light box.

I was messing around the other day, stacking my old slides together to make new images. Like a double exposure.

Photography experiments.
This is the same view in Greenwich Park, I was attempting to improve to improve the visibility of the Canary Wharf skyline behind the royal palaces/maritime museum. #photoexperiment #greenwich #londonskyline #london

At evening, we stood at the edge of a college parking lot in Port Alberni, B.C. We faced west towards the setting sun. The parking lot was mostly empty. It had light standards between the rows of parking spots.
There is a mountain range that runs northwest of Port called the Beaufort Range. In the photo captured I can see a small part of the range in the lower right. Instead of a parking lot though, I see a flat body of water and shoreline.
In the rest of the lower part of the photo I see a Nuu-chah-nulth cedar War canoe. It has no details, just a dark outline. The front of the canoe is a typical Nuu-chah-nulth, curved point slightly higher than the rest of the rim of the canoe. The point may be shaped as a wolf’s head, a powerful symbol of chiefs in Nuu-chah-nulth teachings.
In the back of the canoe appears to be some paddlers, also dark without detail. Nearer the front of the canoe an individual stands. His movement has him bent forward in action, leading the paddlers. His left arm points. A ceremonial rattle or a fight club is stretched out in his hand. The right arm seems to have swung over the individual’s head, and it seems to have released some slim spear-like object.
Above the canoe and mountain is the orange cast. But above the canoe at left of frame, a grey cast of smoke. Starting strongly at the centre of the canoe and moving to the top edges of the fame are black plumes swirling upwards, like dancing flame in a campfire, but in black.
This is my interpretation of the abstract photo that was revealed. Camera was set to capture the parking lot in the dying light, but the shot was slowed right down. I held my camera at waist height and jumped once, up then down, while the shutter opened slowly. The result: No parking lot. Only an action scene. Where were they headed? To a battle against incursion to their territory? Or were they on a mission to save people from a fire on the Beaufort? I don’t know, but I like to think about it. Photo by D.L. Steel

I once belonged to a #photography club. We did work on movement and #camera speed and such. One evening we stood at the edge of a parking lot. Most of the photos I took didn’t connect with me, but this one continues to resonate. My interpretation in Alt text. #Photoexperiment Tuesday. Share yours.
