Monochrome photograph of a nude man in nature by the sea.

A photograph by Wilhelm von Gloeden.

Von Gloeden has much more robust photographs. I love that this one is so simple that it could have been taken today, for social media—130 years since it was made.

Just got off the phone w a reporter talking AI + photography. Big Q: will all photos be AI-generated? Reality: everyone has a massive trove that isn’t AI, isn’t digital. Wild stat: 96% of analog photos haven’t been seen since dev.

MOMENT FROM OUR PAST.
Early family photos look serious because long exposures were needed and the technology hadn’t caught up yet. Smiling was hard to hold.

Who’s got the most serious face in your albums?

The Picnic Rescued moments

A little something from my collection of vintage photographs. One of the most magical things about photography is being able to witness past scenes from ordinary life. It's a form of time travel.
