In this visual odyssey, nine Polaroid scrolls, bound with crimson ribbons like a dragon's fiery breath, form an ancient evergreen against weathered parchment.

At its peak, an emerald gecko, scales shimmering like new growth, embodies life's resilience. This guardian of nature's constancy surveys its domain from a rough-bark perch.

Below, a trilogy of chronicles unfolds, showcasing ancient warriors – the crocodiles. These living dragons, armoured by millennia, are captured in their diverse glory. One basks in emerald grass, a king upon his throne; another emerges from shadow, a creature of the deep; a third displays nature's artistry – ivory daggers set in jaws unchanged since time's dawn.

The middle tier reveals three more chapters. Two further portraits of these scaled sovereigns, eyes holding eons of wisdom, flank a worthy challenger. Each scale and scar is a testament to battles fought in the eternal survival dance.

The foundation displays four final scenes, science and art entwined. A tower of golden hazard containers, a warning beacon in a healer's sanctuary. Mystical manuscripts reveal bacterial kingdoms in vibrant hues and potent circles. A sacred phylogenetic tree, branches laden with prophecies in life's own language. And finally, pointe shoes, transformed into festive splendour, aspire heavenward like dancers' dreams.

At the foot, "MERRY CROCMUS and a happy new year" blazes in holly-berry red, with a flourish wishing tidings for the new year. These images weave a tale of science and art, ancient beings and modern enigmas, danger and beauty, all celebrating life's boundless capacity for adaptation and transformation.

In the grand chronicles of 2024, destiny unfolds through the lives of four feline familiars, their portraits etched in the sacred scrolls of time.

First, Badger, the tuxedo cat, is the guardian of his realm. With 77 moments captured, his ebony and ivory fur gleam against his chosen domain's backdrop, a testament to his unwavering loyalty.

Second, the scroll reveals Mr Kitty, his black and white markings a study in contrasts. Fifty-seven moments immortalise his languid repose, a poignant reminder of his gentle spirit, forever cherished despite his passing just shy of his 17th birthday. His loss, almost as devastating as Milloe’s murder. My poem for Mr Kitty to be published in print next month. They will never be forgotten.

Third, Rīx, the black kitten, emerges from the shadows. Fifty-five moments capture his enigmatic form, a whisper against the earth, hinting at mysteries yet to be revealed.

Finally, Boudica, the Tonkinese queen, graces the last scroll. Her 53 moments, a vibrant tapestry of playful curiosity, unfold amidst her mystical playthings - a turquoise puzzle-sphere and a violet companion.

These cats, my cherished saviours, rescued me from the brink of despair, and their purrs are a soothing balm to my wounded soul. Boudica, a survivor of multiple ea over who almost succumbed to illness last year, embodies the resilience of the feline spirit (begrudgingly due to the added company of Badger and Rīx).

Together, their 242 moments weave a testament to the enduring bond between myself and my animal companions, a symphony of love, loss, and unwavering devotion. As it happens, they are the only reason I will be here in 2025. Once again, they swayed my hand from committing suicide. Their health and happiness come first. Their company today, on this horrid holiday that aggressively celebrates time spent with friends, family and loved ones - cuts deeply and only reinforces my isolation, loneliness and desperate depression, cPTSD and AuDHD.

Please accept this Yggdrasil made with my fave trees: #Phylogentic, #SharpSafety containers & #Ballet pointe shoes.

Of course can’t be a #MerryCrocmus without paying respects to the descendants of prehistoric leviathans - apologies no salties in this one.

Be well, love from the #Cats & I 😻
